marque tool question

hi guys

silly noob question for you

when i cut out a section of an image my rectangular marque tool changes from a square to a rounded square and softens the edge of both the image cut out and the remaining pic, i know its just a setting but how do i change the tool back just to cut regular squares?

Did you try rightclicking on the tool?

i did but its just comes up with my options such as eliptical marque and single row..

i think the effect im trying to get rid is called feathering..?

with your marquee tool selected, look at the toolbar near the top of the screen, you will see a box labeled 'feather'. Set this to 0px and you should be good to go.
