Massive Installation Failure

G'Day,

I am having big time trouble installing CS3 or CS4 on my laptop (MSI CR600) which is running Windows 7. I am using a install file that I successfully used on another computer so I am confident the file is not the problem. (This other computer was running XP.)

When I run the setup file the installation progress bar completes and the Summary page comes up. This page lists 2 errors. Adobe Photoshop CS3 and Shared Components both are listed as: component install failed.

I have tried a few options listed around the web but nothing is working.

In Windows Event Viewer the following:
Source EventID
Error 03/01/2010 10:45:25 PM MsiInstaller 11719 None
Error 03/01/2010 9:58:33 PM VSS 8194 None

Any Ideas?

I have also tried downloading the trial version of CS4 but it has the same problem

I've moved this to the Photoshop forum. The Windows forum was not necessarily the wrong place, but I think you'll get faster responses here.

I'm a Mac user, so I can't offer any insight, but we have some creative geniuses here who can most likely get you the help you need.
