mousepad / pen tablet

Hello everybody,

I had a question, my girlfriend is going to a fine art university next year, and has a macbook pro and all the equipment, BUT, she just has a normal apple mouse, and she has to draw in photoshop.

Then 2 question, first one is : Where can i find good information about a GOOD mousepad which WILL improve the performance of the mouse in drawing on the computer, i can only find information about good mouse pads for gaming.

And the other question is. Which pen tablets are really good for using with Photoshop.

Wacom's Intuos4 is the industry standard for graphics pros, and it comes with a mouse. How convenient is that?

with mousepad i mean like the square thing on ur desk of hard plastic, or cheaper ones of foam with plastic. Thanks a lot for the site for pen tablets,a great site, can u help me a bit further with the mouse pad.
