need help asap in illustrater

hi im using illustrater now after using photoshop and i would like to know how to i edit a sketch that i have drawn off a logo and mek it into an end project like for example if i have to live trace but the edged arent smooth wen i do that is there a tutorial on how to get a crisp edge or do i have to use the pen tool help pleaseeeeeeee asap!!!!!!!!!
