Need help with Gifs, Please

Postby StarLite on Thu Jul 20, 2006 12:50 am

Hi Everyone:

My name is StarLite and I just joined. Happy to be aboard. I was wondering if someone could help me with this problem I'm having. I checked out search and couldn't find anything dealing with this problem.

I downloaded some brushes for Photoshop and when I use the brushes to make something, say for example I'm making a key. I need this image to be a gif. I am making a point & click adventure game and I find that using PNG images have a block shadow around the picture within the engine.

What's happening is when I make the picture and use the blend options, it looks perfect, you can tell it's a key, but when I save the image as a gif, the image seems to lose something and it ends up looking like a cartoon picture.

Matte isn't an option either because at first the key will sit on a brown table and then end up in a beige/yellow inventory. How do I get my gif to stop turning into Barney Rubble's house key. Every image I save as gif does this but only when I use brushes. If I make something on my own and save it as gif it's fine. Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong? I would greatly appreciate any help anyone could give me. Thank you in advance. I'm not familiar with displaying pics on here yet. I'll try to upload an image when I know how. Thanks again

StarLite

This is what's happening. How can I stop it. Thanks

Gifs

Postby StarLite on Sat Jul 22, 2006 3:24 pm

Hi All:

I'm posting this reply in case this might help someone else. A friend told me that the problem with the gifs might be that gifs only support 255 colors and that the brushes I'm using may be many more colors and that when saving the gifs are pushing out the colors it can't use giving the puffed up effect. He suggested another format. Hope this might help someone with the same problem. Take care
