Noob to HTML, three quick questions:

Noob to HTML, three quick questions:

Hey, I'm new to html and trying to learn by designing my own template, however I've hit three problems:

1. I have a login box I want to take up the whole of my sidebar, I did width:100% and it worked fine, but height:100% doesn't exist. I'm using a php template for all my pages that vary in length, so how do I make the login box for every page be 100% in height?

2. I have two images on the far right of my content box, I'd like to be able to write on the left of these images, however it puts the text above the images even though they never touch, how do I put the images on a top layer and the text on a lower layer so I can put text next to the image without it going above it.
eg. When not mouse on http://i.imgur.com/WepS5.jpg
When mouse on http://i.imgur.com/tdSSH.jpg

3.I have a few image-buttons, when I link the image buttons they become highlighted whenever I roll my mouse over it. Image

is there a way to turn this off?

Thanks.
