Not enough RAM for liquification?

Postby Pavo Loco on Sat Jun 09, 2007 7:27 pm

When I go to Liquify a picture and I click OK, i receive this message:

Image

What does that mean and/or how do I fix it?

Thanks,

Get more RAM or do a system rebuild. I have never had that problem before so I am not sure if there is a quick fix.

it means random access memory, ram, it makes it so your computer can grab an image or whatever from anywhere at anytime without it the computer has to get the info in a certain sequence you can get memory sticks from best buy or circuit city or even radio shack.

i ran into this problem a few times on HUGE images on my old system. I had a gig of memory, and i was working on a ~12mb jpg image (112mb psd file by the time i was done)

as a short-term fix you can create a selection, then go to the liquify filter, and then liquify whatever you want in the selected area, and then move onto the next one.

as a long term fix, probably need more memory.

I have this program called "RAM Page" on my computer. It runs in the System Tray - Lower right corner of the screen - and it displays how much free RAM I have at any given time. I can view details and it tells me total RAM, Free RAM, Total Page, Free Page, Total Virtual, and Free Virtual. I don't know what that means or how this thing works, but whenever things are running slow (the free RAM is below 200) I just double click it and a few seconds later my free RAM is back up to like 400.

You might consider getting it, I will see if I can find the site.

EDIT: Right after I said "I will see if I can find the site" I found the site even though I had been searching for 5 minutes prior.
Anyway, here is the site if you want it.
