pen tool question

I believe I have accidentally changed a setting inside my pen tool. I have previously been able to create a path using pen tool and when I created a new selection it was the area I created inside the path. Now for some reason when I use the pen tool and create a path when I make the new selection it selects the inverse of the path I created. How do I undo this?

When you choose the Pen Tool, you'll see four choices (right side of options bar), they are: Add to path area, Subtract from path area, Intersect path areas, and Exclude overlapping path areas. You probably had "Subtract from path area" selected when you made your path; that would result in inversed selections. You need to have "Add to path area" selected. You can change that now by using the "Path Selection Tool" to select your path; then just select the "Add to path area" choice. Your selections should now be correct.

i was looking at all sort of things related to the pen tool, learned a little bit in the process...lol..... iwas looking at that possiblity but for some reason but i didn't carry it thru.......so i am glad you posted... smiling..

Hi jerry, thanks for that post. Ya know, I really like the fact that we have several people who often post helpful suggestions here. We can learn a lot from each other that way, I know I've learned from some of your post!
