Photoshop "pause" problem.. Anyone?

Postby perxa on Tue Jul 10, 2007 11:57 am

Hi all, newbie to this forum!

I have a problem with Photoshop taking its time in between diffirent tasks Im doing.

Lets say I have a psd file up and I want to edit a text layer.. I click the text tool and then photoshop takes its time before I can continue. These pauses can sometime take up to 15 secs or more.. Annoying as hell when working on a big file doing diffirent things..

I checked computer load and its around 50% , so its not the computer that is breaking up..

anyone know what causes photoshop to "stop" in between commands and diffirent tasks?

thanks in advance..

What size are those "big files" ?

And what's your RAM, processor speed and so forth ?..

Sounds to me like your playing with files a bit bigger than what your pc can handle (even if your CPU is at 50%).

my main HDD (the same that photoshop uses) only has about 10 gigs left on it.. Not sure if thats the case.. I think 10 gigs would be enough..

the files I usually work with are around.. 5-20 mb.

computer is a pentium dual core 3.00 ghz with 2 gigs ram..

Im not sure what causes these problems.. As sometimes I do not get them. Maybe its running photoshop along with some other program that causes the problems. It is however something that comes and goes.

What is the recommended FREE HDD space to run photoshop? shouldnt 10 gigs be enough?
