Photoshop Tutorial: Signature tutorial

Postby Mesko » Tue Jun 21, 2005 11:11 pm

This tutorial effect will probably be used in signatures, I think, and therefor, I named it "Signature tutorial".

1. First, start off by opening a new 400 x 100 px document.
File > New - Width: 400, Height: 100, Contents: White

2. Take the Gradient tool, and use these settings:

Mode: Difference, Opacity: 25%, Black/White Gradient

3. Draw around a little. Make short moves in every direction in the middle of the document. Then hit Ctrl + I to invert the pictures colours. Your result should look somewhat like this:

4. Now, go Filter > Stylize > Glowing Edges and just hit "OK".
Your result should look somewhat like this:

5. Now, go Filter > Stylize > Find Edges.
Your result shuld look somewhat like this:

Done! If you want to (which you probably do), you can add some extra effects, like some text, and a border:

Tadaa!

Hrm... Maybe because you've got PS CS2 and I've got PS 7, or maybe you didn't use the "Difference" mode on the Gradient tool...

Maybe you used "Find edges" before "Glowing edges". That's wrong! :P

3.11 Did not have any sleep mode. Frigging hybernate in XP doesn't work as it should either.
