Photoshops automatic naming of copied layers

Photoshops automatic naming of copied layers

Postby ch8rt on Wed Sep 23, 2009 11:31 am

I surely can't be alone with finding the automatic naming of copied layers frustrating.

I don't want to end up with Square, Square copy, Square copy copy, Square copy 1, Square copy copy 1.

Its as descriptive as leaving them all as Square. But at least thats tidier when your creating several objects containing the same elements.

Today I created a block with a 'background', 'header background', 'header copy' (words not duplicate), 'body copy' and 'arrow'

I needed four of these. Even when I copy the entire folder it renames all the contents with the suffix copy. Why? I'm perfectly capable of changing the names of the four folders to something more relevant and then keeping all the contents consistent so as not to confuse myself or someone else in the future.

Does anyone know of a way to turn this feature off? I'm trying to set a style for 'friendly' photoshop documents in my agency and this would be a lovely addition.
