Do you have a robot meta tag?
This address expains.
http://www.robotstxt.org/wc/meta-user.html

Also try this test.
http://www.submitexpress.com/analyzer/
It will check your Title relevnce and keyword density.

Hope that helps.

A robots.txt -file will not help you get indexed, it will only prevent some pages or directories to get indexed. The submitexpress service will not either help you get indexed faster.

Do only thing you have to do it so get some good links and then just be patient.

Thank you again for the suggestions. I have been looking at sites to link to as well.

With regard to keywords, I'm only using keywords that I've quoted within my website, however, if I were to add any keywords not quoted on my website will the search engines still find my site. For example;

Keyword I use is 'hillwalkers' as this is part of the title.

What if I added a keyword which is not on the site eg 'walking' as this would still be relevant to the site?

The reason I ask is that my website is mainly maps and pictures and two lines of text for each page which is an overview of a walk. The guidelines provided by Google seem to suggest you can only use keywords used in text on a website. I was hoping to avoid creating text on a page in order to make up keywords. Your help would be most appreciated again.

Hia

As far as I know you will lower your rank if you have key words that are not included in your web pages.

As mentioned before make full use of your alt text for images.

Another thing as far as I know some search engines wont index you if you dont have a certain amount of words in your web site anyways.

For every keyword you want to target for, make a new page, for example hillwalkers.html

Set the title to some sentence where the work hillwalkers are included. A page will get indexed even if it doesn't have much text on it, but the more the better. If you can, try to get around 500 words on the page. And use simular words to your main keyword and you will be fine. Make sure to set your keyword within <h1> -tags too.

Thank you again for the keyword info.

Success at last - I've just checked out search engines and I'm live and kickin' - that's because I linked to a couple of sites as you suggested. Great when someone's around to help with any questions. Many thanks again.
Jo.
