My SEO Job

Postby johneva on Tue Mar 21, 2006 5:08 pm

Hi all

Well I have been doing SEO work for http://www.lease-hire.co.uk for 6 weeks now and cos I have done such a good job for them they have found me another job doing the same work for another site http://www.bestcarlease.co.uk.

As if this was not good enough the web design company who first made lease-hire.co.uk have also turned around and said they have work they can offer me too. The boss of the company says they have loads of clients that are always looking for good SEO company's and he is very impressed with what I have managed to do for lease-hire.co.uk

Looks like this is going to start getting very very busy for me.

Thanx John

SEO

Postby designer on Sat Apr 15, 2006 3:47 am

I am posting in response to John's post regarding SEO work. I took interest in your mentioned success. There are so many disappointing SEO ventures on the web. Fortunately, Microsoft has a serveral SEO related plans which I plan to personally use in the very near furture: http://www.microsoft.com/smallbusiness/ ... etail.mspx
http://www.microsoft.com/smallbusiness/ ... etail.mspx

Which is essentially why I was visiting the forum.

Anyway, back to John's post, I took a look at the website you have provided SEO for. The site itself at a cursory glance seemed to have lots of information on it. So, I went a step further and checked the source for key words, and pursued the results for test searches. Hum... nothing seemed to be found in ranking. Utterly, nothing. No listings under the sites key words, at all, in MS beta top 200. Perhaps, you are opt for special search?

Perhaps it is over simplistic to merely make content informative, interesting and user friendly. Oh, and most of all unique as possible. With only the after thought being SEO. Yet, building a website solely towards the search engine is equally simplistic.

Though we surely plan to do more in terms of viewer information and SEO, I think we arrived at balance with our website: http://officeavenue.com/

Officeavenue.com lists number one under the search term "office website design" in MSN and is in the top 10 with other many search engines. Office Avenue's focus is on website design for small business. So, "office website design" (1) "ms office training"(1) "SharePoint website" ect are helpful rankings for us. Admittedly, our ranking under the very competive search term "website designer" remains disappointing to us.

Office Avenue's site was initially planned almost exclusively towards the viewers in our area of San Antonio, Texas. Thus, and frankly, the SEO aspects were secondary in the initial phase of our business efforts.

Though we could do website design for anyone in the world, we remain more comfotable with the better product we are able to provide locally. Digital photography and face to face contact with our clients. Does anyone have additional information regarding best SEO practice for LOCAL searches? In particular for us, San Antonio, Texas.

Thanks/comments welcome

Aup

I dont see why you could not find the site in searchs http://www.lease-hire.co.uk is in the top 5 for most of its keyword phrases in all search engines. So I dont know what keywords you were trying to search it for.

Contract hire
Lease Hire
Personal contreact hire
Vehicle lease hire

Being its top few keywords.

We were doing even better just a week ago but I think the guys that were 2nd and 3rd did not like being overtook and have been putting in some extra work.

If you took a look at bestcarlease.co.uk then no you wont find it ranking well, I have only done a small amount of work for this site so far and the site needs to be redesigned without using frames.

If you are still not getting results for lease-hire.co.uk under the search terms I have listed I would say the reason must be down to your location in the world as the site is targeted for UK users not US.

If I was not even in the top 200 do you not think I would not have even been paid for the job let alone have the boss so impressed he has found me extra work.

As for your site I have got you top in MSN but carnt find you in Google at all. MSN is the easy one to do well in as there main thing is just keyword density and inbound links(With no quality filters).

As for improving your site well I would look at recoding the whole thing as you are still using tables for starters when divs and CSS are much better, your HTML is full of styles when they belong in an external style sheet, you have big chunks of Javascript in with your HTML this also belongs in its own file if you really need to use Javascript as you should really avoid using it anyways. There is to much Flash work in the page causing slow load times. Speed report

Also you have not used the alt attribute for your images.

Then there is the fact you have 177 validation errors

Once you have sorted all that I use this tool for checking keyword density.

And this forum to exchange links with other high quality sites.
