My mother used to tell me not to touch things that are hot. After learning the hard way... i developed a great respect for that philosophy! :)
So when i went out looking for Sync/Fan combos for my XP3000+ I decided to get the BIGGEST Sync/Fan i could find (Thermaltake Extreme Volcano 12). While it did cool my cpu from about 130F to about 110F and it is BIG... it is not the BEST! It's very loud, which isn't a BIG issue, but i think I could definately cool the cpu down a little bit more.

http://www.thermaltake.com/coolers/volcano/rs/a1745.htm

My Machine:
AMD XP3000+
MSI K7N2 Delta-ILSR
1GB Samsung DualChannel PC3200
2 WDC 80GB System / 250GB Data
nVidia GeForce FX 5700 LE - 256MB
1 MSI 52x CDRom
1 LITE-ON DVDRW +/-

Any ideas on a better Sync/Fan combo would be appreciated.

Since I bought my P4 2.4 I haven't overclocked at all, there's enought power anyways. Now Im more into quiet computers. But I was a overclocker, and had a dream... http://www.go-l.com/desktops/machl38/cooling/index.htm

Thats a nice cooling-system. -25.5 C, thats cold :D

A fan, humm.. You could use any of theese CPU coolers.

Turning on the window fan in my office seems to have dropped my case and chip temp to 100F. YAY.

Now for a serious cooling system....

130 farhenheit or 54 celsius should be no problem for an athlon, I think they start to be in trouble at 70~80 celsius (~170 fahrenheit)

cooler is always nicer offcourse, but so is quieter...

Although it can do higher heat registers... i'm trying to keep a nice stable low temp so i can overclock... don't want to go with water on this box :)

Get a Zalman 7700cu and get the bracket from a Zalman 7000cu rev.b, it will kick ass!

I have got a Zalman 7700Cu as well, and believe me, it cools the shit out of the stove if you want it to ;)

Really, it works incredible. When you install it you will see about an 80mm fan on a huge block of copper. It cools so good because the fins are placed in a special position so the airflow blasts straight through. Besides that, you get a fan controller to go with it, so you can make it run either faster or slower as you wish.
