Larger drives?

Larger drives?

Postby ebba on Wed Aug 25, 2004 8:42 pm

I don't really need a new harddisc, but its always fun with some more space :)

When will it come larger drives, I haven't seen many changes on the harddisc -side in 2-3 years, will it take a lot more time until a larger harddisc will be released. Im dreaming of a 1 TB harddisc, that would have been nice =)

1Tb harddrives would be pretty cool. However, my guess is that the next year nothing like that will pop up the market for us simple consumers... Unfortunately....

Seagate has developed a 98 TB disc, but it will probably take some years until it will be released. But why should the hard disc companies release larger discs, they will only sell less drives. And I think IMB, maxtor, seagate and the other big developers are more interested in making a lot of money than making larger drives... Unfortunately...

Yeah... thay might be a reason. But I dont think its any good for big companies to be selling 98 TB drives. No one would afford them, and secondly the motherboards wont support the HDDs so big. Realeasing a 1 TB HDD would be a good idea, and would be cool too

I think for now i'm content having many harddrives in one machine with all the darn connections i got... SATA IDE raid, etc. Just a few 250GB and you got plenty of space for all the file shares you want. :)
