importing 3D into Flash

Postby vajmong on Sat Apr 15, 2006 1:42 am

I am ok at flash, but i am better at action scripting.

I am very good at 3d modeling and my question is...

Q: is there a way to import textured models into flash?

I've seen a load of tutorials on how to manipulate solid or gradient colored images or vectors, but is their an "easier" way to import textured medium poly 3d objects into flash? I would hate to do it from scratch by declaring one poly at a time with x,y,z coordinates and so on. Too much work, and not enough results according to time.

PLEASE!!!!!.. need HELP!!!!

Thank You

Lol I've not been here for ages.

There are a few methods you could use to do this.

1) Create the model and export the vertex and face co-ords into a .txt file and write a 3d engine that puts the vertexes and polygons into 2 arrays a and calls and draws them depending on visibility etc.

2) Pre rendered footage always works. It will look nicer but will have really long load times. Because you'll be loading video and you wont be able to have any user interaction with it.

3) Use a programe such as swift3D but these are pretty rudimentary but as long as it's simple it should be able to do it.
