Im taking over a site that was built by someone else and I have to change some links in the menu. However the template that was used does not exist anymore. So can i recreate this template? Or is there something else I can do?

What do you want to do when you say "recreate this template"? Do you want it as a photoshop-file or as html, maybe you can show a link and describe better what you want to do.

I want to change the menu. For instance, if i had the .dwt file I can change/add a link in the menu and it would update the pages throughout the site automatically.

I need a template to edit the non-editable regions.

How many pages is it, can't you just change it manually with Notepad or any html editor?

You could always make the template from one of the pages, but it would mean going though and relinking the pages to the new template that you make. But at least in future then you have got it running on Dreamweaver templates again.

Make sure to upload the template files when you upload the website then anybody who ever works on the site will always have the template files. ;)

And Maybe PHP includes or maybe even Iframes in a new template could stop this problem happening next time :)

Then just change the code in the 30 files to:
<?php include "news.php"; ?>
If it's too many files you can use a program that replace the code in all the files simulatiously. Like the program: PowerGREP

You can download a free trial of it that will work. Just make a google search and you will find it.

It's the menu of the site I have to change. And there is a few changes to be made on it.

Will PowerGREP do a better job than dreaweavers find and replace?
