resizing a browser manualy effects the look of my website

Postby dazz_club on Wed Jul 12, 2006 10:53 pm

Hi people,

Im currently working on a website and at the moment im just layering down the site with css.

My problem comes when you manipulate the browser size manualy using the cursor, my images shift about.

Do i have the make the images "fixed" in my css file?

heres the website http://www.amofi.co.uk

cheers

I think giving the images 'absolute positions' in CSS would get rid of this problem.

maybe using percentages instead?

that way the site will expand/contracts according to the screen size ;)

cheers guys for your help.

I did the absolute postion tag in my css, woahh, headache, but some how i sorted it all out.

If i used the percentages would ig have increased the image sizes or just the container they are all in?

I think i might reduce the image sizes or reduce the size when viewed on a smaller browser.

cheers

Hm if you use percentages, the background will repeat itself when you enlarge the browser window, but this would look weird because your bg image is a graphic same size as the website. Fluid websites need backgroud patterns or plain bgcolor to look proper.
So the only way it can be viewed in a smaller resolution is to reduce the background's size to a width <800 or <1024 with a comment like "Best viewed in 1024x768" if you don't want it that small.
