How do I select multiple text in a text field?

Hi Team,
I am workin in Photoshop CS2. I have a query regarding the Text tool.

Say, I have made a paragraph given below(excluding the nos) using Text tool:

East or West --------1
Photoshop --------2
is the --------3
Best! --------4

Now, supposing I ve to select only lines 1,2 and 4, How do I this?
In MSWord, its simple..just hold down the Ctrl key and select the desired text.
In Photoshop, if I hold down the Ctrl key, the whole text box gets selected.
So whats the way to do in Photoshop?

Okay, first of all:

1. You have to create four sets of word. This will make each line (in your case 1,2,3,4) stand in different layers.
2. Now that each line has it's own layer you can select each line seperatly.
3. This is done by CTRL + click the capital T, in the little rectangulare in your layers menu.

Another way to do it:
Take out your magic wand tool (W), hold shift and click the letters you want selected.
I hope this works, ask if I'm confusing you.

You could try Excruciating's way or just simple select line 1+2 (as they are together),edit, and then select line 4 and edit that in the same way

Why can't it? Even if it's the same layer, just use the magic wand tool. Hold down shife while clicking the disered text that you want to select ...

The word is rasterize, turning vector objects into pixel based raster ones.

You can just make a paragraph of text and use the alignment and the space bar to get the text positioned how you want then just drag the 'T' icon in the layers box down onto the new layer button to duplicate it then right click on the T of the new layer and click rasterize layer and put the effects on that. If it's just something like a drop shadow you can just click on the little 'F' button and select the vector based effects from there.
