How do you remove flares from pictures?

How do you remove flares from pictures?

Postby presbyter on Wed Aug 09, 2006 10:50 am

My friend took this picture and didn't see the flare in the picture. Flares are like the sun shining in your lens and produces a glare effect. In photography, having a big light shine in your lens will cause a flare. IF you look at the pictures posted along with this message, you can see a flare or a white haze on the pillow area.
Can anyone give me any possible tips or ideas on how to remove the flare?

Please look at these files. I was only able to post one here with this message:

Hello, this is my first post since joining. I know how you feel about flares, they can give some great dramatic effects, but can also be a pain. To get rid of flares I use the burn tool to darken the lightend areas, the dodge tool to correct mistakes, and the desaturation (sponge) tool to fix over-burned colors. Hope that helps! :)

And when taking those pictures with the sunlight in the background, use the "Fill Flash". Even though the camera may say there is enough light in the room, using the flash will take out the "flares" in the photo.
