Well, I was talking to a friend from work yesterday at the party.
She has a website, but she needs it to be "renewed".
It's a rather simple website, just a blue background and some background.
I know how to design it, I can make that in photoshop.
I need to know how to.. It's hard to explain because I know nothing about it ...
Okay, let's say it this way. I can design the website, I don't know how to upload it.
I don't know how to code things. Like making a navigation bar work.
AND I need to know how flash works, because my work will include pictures changing, like six pictures changing in time.

As Ash says it depends what you already know and just what area you would like to know.

Even the very best website designers/developers dont know everything about websites. ;)

A good place to start though is by learning HTML it is really easy and wont take long to get the basics from that alone you will be able to make your first web pages/site.

After that I would highly recommend learning CSS and a server-side language such as PHP or ASP.

These are some good sites to start your learning.

Once you have made a few pages or a site you will then need to get a host to put your sites files on so the world can access your creation.

If your unsure on anything just come and ask. ;)

I know alot of people will dissagree with me here

but for your 1st try at websites i dont think using the slice tool will do too much harm, search for a slice tool tutorial and it should guide you through it.

Yeah, I'm with C@L on this one, using the slice tool and then exporting to CSS will give you a better idea of how HTML and CSS work.
