I found a script online that allows me to open a new window to display a photo from a thumbnail the user clicks on. The script works perfectly in Firefox, in that the window opens, and is sized right and has no toolbars or scrollbars... exactly like I wanted it to.
In IE, there is a "javascript:void(0)" that appears in the status bar, and nothing happens. No popup or anything...
