heya,
i have an image, made up of black lines, and there's a white backgroundcolor. But i only need the black lines, without the white background, so my question : how do you remove the white backgroundcolor, or make it transparent?

ok i take it, it is a single layer image so,
First, make new layer and make it as the background, you should have then your lines image as a normal layer.
second, go to select --> colour range --> and use the eye dropper to select the white, hit ok and you should then have all the white background selected as one and the black not selected. Hit the delete button and you should have jus tthe balck lines and the transparent background layer from before.
