Loading external imgs from user's hd?

Is it possible to load an img from a user's hd? All I can find is how to load from one's own server.

What I'm looking for is done, for example, in the Wedding Crashers trailer where they load an image from the user's hd. I'm wondering if this is done by going back to HTML, loading the image to our server, then going back to to Flash...

Im sure they wouldn't have to go through that to do it, seems abit overly complicated. Ive never done this so dont know how it would be achieved but have you tried simply putting a local address into the LoadMovie code??
