Newbie Question, surely an easy one to answer?

Hi,
First post in this forum, so Hi to eveyone.
I'm fairly proficient in Photoshop, but a complete noob to Illustrator, so here goes.

I've decide to create some graphics from scratch for my website for when i get married. I've created a 3D present box with ribbon, then i wanted to add a bow to the ribbon, so on the same layer i drew out the bow and used live paint to fill it in.

I then went to put the ribbon on top the box and even when trying to bring it to the front, the colours in the bow appear transparent, and show through the colours of the box beneath it.

Should i have created the bow on another layer, or am i missing something obvious here?

Please help.

Thank you in advance!

Check the opacity % on your bow. If it appears to be 100%, select each component of the bow with the direct selection tool and check each component's opacity percentage. This probably won't help, but you can easily move the bow to another layer, just create a new layer, have it selected in the layers palette, select the bow, right click and select send to current layer.
