Hello World! I would like to learn the java trade! I am pretty much new to scripting, the closest thing I can say is i know very basic very very basic Visual Basic 2005... I was wondering where I should start learning with java I mainly would like to make multiplayer website games(in the long run), with java. I have been looking at tutorials but many seem completly diffrent I am confused should I be using netbeans or the cmd and if so which kind? Anyone reccomend a specific tutorial to follow for a beginner.

oh yeah also, wait?! lol java and javascript are two diffrent things? if so what are the diffrences?

I see lots of wonderful tutorials but they all seem to be for intermediate to basic java learners, is there anywhere i should start which would teach me asics in some chronological order :)

Yes, Java and JavaScript are two very different things.

They share some syntax similarities and the first four letters in their respective names but beyond that not much else.

Java is a full fledged programming language that can be used for building stand alone apps as well as web apps.

JavaScript is a web scripting language. It has become central to the development of Web apps, being the J in AJAX.

If you are looking for Java info, you should look into a Java forum.

Hope that helps some.
