If a customer clicks on an advert or clicks through from another website where we are promoted, is there a way we can monitor where they have clicked through from?

The best thing is to link the banner to for example www.site.com/?ad=13

And put a script on the site that counts the visistors that visited the /?ad=13 -page.

Another way is to check where the user came from via PHP. There are services for this, I recomend google analytics, it's free and it's really good.

so google analytics provides a surface where by you are able to pinpoint where a user has come from?

just to clarify, if i put a banner on website a , b and c, using googles service it will inform me that the user has clicked through on website b??

cheers

Google Analytics? I have heard of this, but have never used it.

You say it's a good tool to track stats? for websites or just banner click thru's??

I'm gonna go look into it now. Thanks...
