Are SEO services worth it?

Postby Wogan_Mike on Tue Jul 03, 2007 2:50 am

I want to know if 3rd party SEO firms are really worth it. I've found that it can be quite pricey through companies. I've also read some articles that said SEO companies are not worth it; high rankings can be acheived by setting up your website properly. What is the best choice?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I've wondered the same thing sometimes, but I just set it all up myself and do the SEO. I've had good results, but it takes ALOT of time and effort.

I would just do it myself.

Yeah those seo companies charge a fortune. But this website as some good information and say they can get you on page 1 for $99. But they have some good tools on this page that I like to use.

the best site for SEO information is SeoChat.com

I use this constantly! They have cool little tools that do different things for SEO. I use the Keyword Density tool ALL the time. This is where you can check how many times your keywords come up in your URL's. This is important for search engine rankings.

Besides the tools, they have informative articles. I found this site and just combed thru it. Learned as much as I could. Now I consider myself a pretty good SEO. I think like it. I'm always finding new ways to climb higher in Google.

Trust me, SEOchat is where you want to be.

cheers.

I do think that employing an seo company is worth while, however, I would be careful about who you choose. Get familiar with all the industry terms so you can ask an agency exactly what they will do under the broad heading of 'seo'. To find a good agency in the first place, just do a google search for an seo agency in your area, the ones on the first page should know what they are doing ;)

All of this is true...

I know SEO pretty well, and most things you can do yourself. Yes, it is time consuming. If you believe time is money, and you don't want to spend your own time, then pay someone to do it. Definitely do your research. There are tons of scams and bogus companies out there that give SEO a bad name. It seem like everyone is doing SEO these days. I personally signed up for NicheBot.com, which at the time had all the tools I needed. Some of their services are now part of the premium membership, but they still have alot of great tools all in one place. It saves the time of searching the net for other tools. If you do some Googling into SEO you'll find loads of great info. I learned everything from Podcast, Videos, Friends, and also following Tweets, Stumbles and other social networks where some of the SEO Gurus post. I also work for an SEO company which helps, but the main source of my info comes from connecting with others. You really have to dig in deep and be a part of the "buzz" Keep your eyes and ears open because the technology is constantly changing. Self SEO is totally possible, but just like anything, it takes time to learn. Hope all that was helpful.
