Feather Effect

Postby Sumkid on Thu Jul 26, 2007 10:00 am

hey guys,

im new to this forum. i have a problem i am doing this work as part of school and 1 part is having to apply a feather effect to several part of the image. i successfully did it to one and i go repeat the same process for the other part but its not applying the effect. i have tried select> feather several times and typed in every number possible but nothing happens. I asked the teacher and he said i have to make it so that the clouds appear to have a feather effect, since the feather effect tool just isnt working. if any of you guys could help me i would really appreciate it,
Thanks :D

You could also try using the marque/selection tools (rectangle, elipse, magic wand etc.) they all have the feather ability on the top tray (feather, fixed size etc.).

Oh.. I think i know now.. Did you actually make a selection before feathering? If not, use the above

Alright.. Also make sure your on the right layer.. (not even sure if that really matters)..
Anyways, if you feel like posting a screenshot I think it would help a lot :)

Hah.. it's so obvious.. sorry.
Feathering doesn't have to visible before filling the layer. Try selecting your layer. Do select>modify>expand (expand by a relatively good ammound, you can always redo this if it's to much). Now do select feather and choose an ammount a bit smaller than the ammount you expanded with. Now fill the selection (if white hit "d", "x" and then alt + backspace).
