DrawAvatar.com Our first e-commerce site

Postby sonelandmartin on Thu Jun 21, 2007 4:09 pm

Hi all,
less than a week ago, we released our first e-commerce website.
It's called www.drawavatar.com.

Please, take a look and give us some opinions. This is really important for us.

Thanks,
Sonel & Martin

I like how you have the little pop-ups that show the avatar and follow the mouse, what kind of programming do you use to make something like that?

very good

To answer your question

They are not pop-ups. They are html <div>-s with the option z-index:1 ( like layer which is above everything else ). They are controlled by javascript which sets their visibility and location.

You said nothing specific about the site.

Please give us opinions!

Okay then.

I think the links in the footer need a little work.

And you have the page redirect back to itself when someone presses the back button, very annoying. Although, i'm sure that's not the reason you put that in there.

Do you mean when you click "Back" at the home page?
It's redirecting you because there is an index which makes a few actions before redirecting.

I'm thinking of fixing the index to work differently these days.

Links in the footer? Perhaps there is a missing link somewhere... I'll check that, thanks.

But you still don't tell me anything. What do you think about the site generally. That was my question. :)

Yeah at the home page.

And the footer, the copyright statement was on the left and the links were positioned funny towards the top right corner.

I like it though, easy to navigate, nice layout, cool features.

Have I answered your question?

on the contrary, i found that this "popup" is a little annoying. :D
(sorry, i dont mean to be rude)
it blocks our view cos the size is too big. maybe a smaller size will be nice.

Now don't take this the wrong way. I like the site but I am going to give you some constructive criticism it has helped me it the past when people are honest.

First thing I don't thin I like the background and I can't even offer a suggestion to fix it just looks to play not eye catching and I kind og get lost looking at it.

You should also make the pop ups a little smaller it takes up way to much space. If they want to see the image bigger they should click on it. The pop up should be a preview. Also when you hit back it doesn't go to the page you where just at or at least back to the home page. And last you should use friendly urls. For example this is what comes up in the url when you go back to the home page http://www.drawavatar.com./home.php?ie=n
If you use friendly urls the search engines like it much better and it will help your placement and page rank.
But like I said I like the site the design is nice and fluid easy to navigate. These are just suggestions to help you out.
