Hi I’m a new member and in desperate need of some expert advise I hope someone out there might be able to help me.

I’m running Mac OSX.4 and using Illustrator CS2

I guess I would describe my knowledge level as fairly advanced but a problem has cropped up that i just cant solve and would really appreciate some help.

A couple of weeks ago I had a bit of a fiddle with ‘colour settings’ and ‘assign profile’ and it seems to have made changes that I just don't understand.

If I ‘save as’ from a previously created Illustrated document and then import the new file into Quark along side the original, the colours in both files look different.

For example, If I had a previously created illustrator eps called ‘box’ and it contains a bright blue circle.
I open the file ‘box’ but make no changes I just simply ‘save as’ and call it box02.
When I import both files into Quark and view them together the blue circle appears a different shade in each file, it’s still blue but the new file appears as different shade of blue!

I suspect I’ve changed the profile but to be frank i’m out of my depth when it comes to colour management and would really welcome some help.

Many thanks
Bryn
