hi experts,

i have a doubt in illustrator text formatting. i dont know whether it is a correct place to post this question. if it is not please excuse me and suggest me where i have to post
my data is in this format..

vegetables
items price
abc $10.00
def $20.00
ijk $200.00

using tabs (shift+ctrl+t) i make it to uniform

vegetables
items price
abc $10.00
def $20.00
ijk $200.00

but i want to fill leading spaces with dot's(.)

i need in this way

vegetables
items price
abc.....$10.00
def.....$20.00
ijk.....$200.00

if the gap is common we can easily do it.(text-- find/replace)
but, gap is not common it may vary..
like

uvwx 11.00
xyz 11.00
abcdef 11.00

can anybody give me the solutions
