designing a computer!

Postby Kali on Thu Apr 07, 2005 1:16 pm

Hello,
I would like some help/guidance on designing a small computer (Instruction Set Arch, in particular). The story is I am designing a robot/computer where the on-board computer allows the control of the robot.
Since the robot has very basic movements (to begin with): forward, backward, front wheel directionality, stop. I will be using register-register (load-store) architecture for speed. However, I am unsure of what instructions I will need (which boils down to what addressing modes to chose). :?
Please feel free to express any thoughts or additional resources.
Look forward to your replies.
Thanks,
Kali
