Was Bored

Postby flabbyrabbit on Wed Mar 05, 2008 11:59 pm

I was really rather bored and decided to re-do my homepage, just to make sure my skills went getting rusty. So yeah its not that good, and no where near finished but if someone can give me any ideas to improve it, they would be much appreciated.

I see you used 92% as the height of your apDiv. Any purpose for this? It's just a little annoying to see it resize when I resize the window. And on my laptop I can't see it without a scrollbar so it's a little annoying.

Other than that I think just a little bit more of a layout beyond three images in a box.

I like what you did at the top of the page. Maybe follow that through to other parts of the page as well just for the sake of unity.

cheers

The problem is that if you have a low resolution the text goes out of the bottom of the box, so i tried to put the other div in to make just that bit scrollable, but yeah it didn't quite work.

I could see only two boxes as viewed in IE7 on XP. The other one is cut off. See image :

Now, with the main layout. I see all in black, just to criticize,,it's a bit boring. You could have some colors in the contents that would contrast the dark background.

I see that you were using tables having width of 98%. Ideally, layout using tables is not good. If you can code it without using tables (but divs instead), then you'll have at least the same styles rendering in almost all browsers.

Hope make some sense

Yeah im the same, i have a 19" monitor. The reason i use tables is because divs are silly, i cant stand them. The text goes out side of the divs background color, how silly is that. But yeah im going start again and this time try and make it work for everyone.

Most probably, it's caused by the fix width and height that lets the text go out of the div's ideal size.

No problem on using table, with your layout, creating it in divs will be ideal. Anyway, i'm on a 1024X768 resolution...and see how it cuts the 3rd box
