My first sketch

This is my very first attempt of drawing anything like that.I didn't think that i can do it so i drew it on a notebook paper.
I watched it from my screen and did it with a good oldfashioned pencil.It took me about 2 hours+
I agree that in some places it's not quite symmetrical but i think it came quite good for a first attempt.
What do you think?

I can see room for improvement in the areas of proportion and perspective, but that will come with experience. The one thing that stands out to me is that the hair on the top-left of the image (the model's right side) could be a bit fuller. It seems a bit "flat", if you will.

However, the fact that that is the one thing that stands out to me says a lot about what you did well in the rest of the image. A great job for a first effort my friend! I look forward to seeing more.

I'm curious- was there one part of the sketch that you found more difficult? Myself personally, I always hated noses. Still do, in fact.

Lol ... I made a first attempt in drawing a face 2 weeks ago. I had my girllfriend sitting in front of me, and your drawing looks a bit like it. The pose is the same ^^

Great work ! I guess next time you attempt you should use paper with a rougher grain in staid of some notebook paper ^^... It's worth it...

I'm planning to exercise myself on that, so you should do to... The key to improvement...

The nose was very difficult for me as well.At one point i thought that i'm going to tear it from erasing but the paper was tougher than i thought




I noticed that as well but after so much drawing the pencil got oily or something.It just couldn't draw anymore, so i left it like that.
Maybe i should by myself some high quality materials.

What the hell? .. I never had a pencil getting oily or something. I geuss you mean your paper gets saturated? Therefore: Rougher grain ^^
And there's no need at all to go buy more expensive stuff? Just use a B or even HB pencil. That will do it.

And about that hair... It looks indeed a little flat. It took a long time for me too before I saw contrast in what I draw. But just practice some more. You will get the touch quicker than you expect it ^^

A Graphics tablet is indeed a really wonderfull inovating piece... But not everybody can't effort that... (Like me Sob )...

Don't be to hasty, your pencil will do for practicing ^^

Although... Al I dream of is a proper drawing tablet...

Yeah, a tablet would be great to have but i don't have the money right now.I'll practice by hand until i can afford one.

If you'd lick to get better at drawings lick that, here's an old drawing artist trick: as your drawing progresses take a look at it in the mirror. your lines you thought were good will show up really screwed up in reverse. That way you can really tell what to draw or redraw next.
