Below is a picture of my 16 year old cousin, Anthony, who was found dead in the small hours of yesterday morning along with 6 of his classmates and 1 teacher. He was on a canyoning trip with his school when a flash flood hit the Mangatepopo River.

This is the last and best picture we have of him, and we would like to use it in our funeral arrangements, but it is grainy and out of focus. Anything that you can do to increase quality and clarity would be so very much appreciated by all the family.

I'm sure you will understand why I'm not attempting this myself at this point. Please, if you have a minute to spare, use your talents to PS this pic.

I feel sorry for your loss.

Sorry, but it's very hard to push up sharpness and lessen grain levels at the same time...

Note for all the other contributors: Don't resize the image or change the DPI. Lowering either of those would make it hard or impossible to print your image at a viewable size.

This is what I got:
I did some color correction and zone specific leveling to try and bring his face out of his surrounding. Like Etheryte said, its hard to increase sharpness and decrease graininess so I tried blurring the less important areas to make it appear he is more in focus.

I am really sorry for your loss. My roommate just lost his cousin so I can only imagine how hard it is for you.

I feel bad in your place :(

I've done some 'redfield's perfectum' correction, and a background blur... Edit, adjustments, curves.. etc..
Didn't realy improve picture sharpness... But I just couldn't "manipulate" the pic to much :s
See what you can do with it, was hard for me to, to edit the pic...

My best regards my friend... Impulsive...

Thankyou so much, everyone, for your kindness and your fast responses. Later today if I get time, I will try to combine the foreground of Etheryte's picture with the background of Isick's.

Thankyou again, everyone.

I saw that in the news lastnight, terrible tragedy. I myself am from New Zealand (Wellington.) I wish the best for you and your family in these hard times! God bless.
