How to edit this photo?

I currently have this and what I'd like to do is change the colors. I'd like the lighter shade to be transparent. How do I select that color and change it? How do I select the other color to change that afterward?

After that I would like to add a stroke to the whole thing to give it a small outline. How do I do that?

Have you tried using the white arrow tool, selecting part of the lighter color, doing a select>same>fill color, and then reducing the opacity?

it's a single layer.

If each of the color areas are seperate vector images, it should work, if you're using the white selection tool.... If e-mail it to me, I could tell you exactly how to do it. Sometimes with the way drawings are set up, it's hard to be able to tell someone exactly what to do without being able to see/work with it.

Okay, PM me your email, I'll send you the file, its actually only one layer because its oringally a photo i took and cut out so its a single layer.

But.... you said it was in AI format, so I was assuming it was vector... Is this a raster image? If so, you cannot edit it in Illustrator. That would explain why you can't select the individual colors. If it was a photo, it is not vector and can't be edited in Illustrator unless it's live traced.

But you can send it to me anyways and I'll let you know for sure.
