Help w/ Live Trace issues

Help w/ Live Trace issues

Postby btyo462 on Sun Jul 20, 2008 10:37 pm

Hi all. I currently am vectorizing and colorizing dozens of pen-drawn illustrations for a client. I just started noticing this, and I don't know of any solution. I use the default Live Trace Make and Expand command to vectorize the pen drawings, then just color the fills accordingly. For some reason there seems to be some sort of gap between each of the fills. I can't tell if it's actually a gap (I can't zoom that far) or if it's just a monitor issue. Here's a pic of what it looks like:

Does anyone know if what causes this and how I can fix it? We're talking dozens of hours worth of work here that I can't afford to redo. If need be, I'll post an AI file too. Help please!!! Thanks.

It's hard to say without actually looking at the AI file, but it probably is nothing - just what the screen looks like. Maybe try printing it out and seeing what it looks like?

If you want a quick fix and it won't affect the purpose of the illustration, you could add a blue stroke to the blue fills, and send them to the back. If there is a white space between the fills, this will make them disappear (though they will still be there...).

I've had similar issues when the file is in CMYK mode. Changing to RGB gets rid of that...
