my computer keeps on restarting after reformatting the hdd.

haiya, my mom had just bought a new amd athlon 2.44 Ghz with ecs MOBO ddr2. Then i reformatted our old HDD and everything works fine. then when im done using the computer, I shut it down. But when my mom turned it on, it keeps on going to the safe mode screen then will restart if you choose any of it. if I chose the normal mode, the windows will appear then a blue screen will flash for like 0.2 sec then the computer will restart and go back again to the safe mode screen, the blue screen, it's the same like the memory dump screen. But I can't read exactly what is written. I reformatted the hdd again and it works fine, shutdown then when turned on, it goes back to same prob. oh men.

Try to reinstall your OS another time.

That's what I did, install the OS then it will run just fine, then after shuttng down and turning it on again, the problem will again occur. OH men, but what I did is, install my other old HDD in that computer. And it worked. But I can't make the first HDD a slave one. Maybe I just need to format it again so that I can use it as a slave.

Go to system properties (right click my computer), then go to advanced and click Startup and recovery, uncheck Automatically restart. Now you will be able to see BSOD message. But since other hard drive works maybe you don't need to worry about this.

Maybe your old HDD had jumper on incorrect place, or maybe it's just dying out (did you ever see SMART message/warning). Maybe your copy of windows is bad (scratched disc, bad pirated version...). Hiren's boot cd has many testing tools, maybe they can help you in finding out what's wrong, or simply install some linux distribution just for testing, if it works the problem is in your windows installation disc.

my windows driver? haha! I've been using that for a long time ago in all of our computers. We have an internet cafe, and im using a pirated windows driver for all of the computers. hehe! Maybe my old HDD is just dying out, as what you had said.

Maybe there's a problem reading your CD/DVD OS installer, during installation.
