Help.....how do i flatten blending options to a layer???

Postby kennyb on Mon Aug 04, 2008 4:39 pm

Hi guys....

Ok i have applied blending options eg drop shadow, stroke etc... to an image now what i want to do is 'flatten' those effects onto the image so i can edit the image without the blending/effects option taking over the image.

Basically i have 2 texts that have drop shadows etc that i want to inter weave between the two without having the blending options realise what areas i have deleted/edited and adjusting the effects to suit......ruining the illusion.... :? if ya get what i mean ..... :?:

Cheers

Create a new (blank) layer, and position it directly underneath the layer, then highlight the upper layer and Merge Down. This blends the effects with the text and rasterizes it (Photoshop now sees the text as a 'normal' layer, not a text layer.

OR....

Right-click the 'f' (effects) icon on the text layer, and choose 'Create Layer' from the drop-down menu. This puts the effects on their own (normal) layer underneath the text, and preserves the text as a text layer.

Use whichever technique best suits your problems.
