How do I prevent redraw of lines?

How do I prevent redraw of lines?

Postby garyi on Tue Aug 19, 2008 7:22 pm

Sorry that was not a very technical title!

I have Illustrator CS2.

When I use the brush tool with my Wacom I am aiming to create multiple flowing lines.

So I create one. The go back to near where the first one started and create another, and it simply deletes the first one and creates a second.

I have to create the second line far away from the first, or illustrator 'picks' the first line for destruction.

I am hopeful there is a way to stop it doing that, as its ruining my creative juices!

Cheers

You need to deselect the line you just drew before you start drawing the second. I am assuming you are using the Pencil tool, which edits lines if you draw close enough to a line that is selected.

OK thanks for that.

Is there a more appropriate tool to use whilst try to be creative, once I have an idea I just want to draw it without having to deselect it then select the tool again (I am using the paint brush tool as I want the pressure of the wacom)

Not that I am aware of... But you can hit the escape button to deselect something, perhaps you can program a button on your wacom to deselect quickly?
