I just bought a new computer. I got a 9700 Pro 128 mb graphic card with it. I ran 3DMark03 and I got 3122 points. Not very happy about that so I started thininking of overclokcking the core memory speed of the graphic card RAM.

I have never done anything like this before so I might learn a little about how graphic card memories work too. But I dont know how to do it and how to have a look on the temperature of the graphic card. Anybody who could help me? Any help is very much appreciated.

Thanx in advance!

If you are just going to clock it up some percent, I would recomend some software for that, for example PowerStrip.

Is there any software that somehow monitors the temperatures of the graphics card? Or should you install a temperature probe for that, attached to an LCD?

Yeah, that program really worked out fine.

Okay, now I know how to overclock the piece of shit but how do I know what temp the graphic card is at?

make a google search for: graphic card temp monitor

An you will probably find somthing. Not all graphic cards have a temp sensor though.

There doesn't seem to be any program doing the job I want to. However, the Digidoc seems to have some probes to it, and otherwise I could alwise add a probe and a temp meter myself.

I'm into casemodding remember? You can put the LCD display connected to the probe anywhere you'd like.

That's why I don't drink. Besides that, I'm not sure what alcohol makes me do, that differs from time to time. Don't want to do things my gf hates....

Well, if your card is an nvidia card it should come with the nTune Software which takes care of everything for you. Or your can simply go to the http://www.nvidia.com/object/ntune_5.05.54.00.html web page. Note that this does require an nvidia mobo.

You can also use such applications the following urls:
RivaTuner http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=163
PowerStrip http://www.entechtaiwan.com/util/ps.shtm
RadClocker (ATI Only) http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=609
ATITool (ATI only) http://www.techpowerup.com/atitool/
NVMax (nVidia only) http://www.majorgeeks.com/download387.html
CoolBits (nVidia only) http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=815

All of these tools are great. RivaTuner is a great monitoring tool & works best in combination with PowerStrip.
