did you mean Photoshop 4 or Photoshop CS4? If you have Photoshop CS4 press the following keys to save for web:

Ctrl+Alt+Shift+s

You can also access this by going to File>Save for Web & Devices

From this screen you have a ton of options to shrink the file size of your image without losing too much quality. Hope this helps.

If you are using Photoshop 4 my best advice would be to find someone with a better photoshop to bring the file size down for you. Best of luck!

hi,
if is PS version 4 you have.... you don't have much flexability from what i read about ps4..

this is another option... irfanview from rifanview.com or xnview from xnview.com ... there both freeware and there viewer graphic conversion programs. there good at what they do..

those programs will allow you much greater flexability in choosing the compression/quality when you convert to jpg..

you may need to go into there configuation section and tell it what compression /quality settings you want for output to jpg..

now keep in mind don't compress any more than you have to.. because the higher the compression the smaller the file size but quality starts hurting!
