Photoshop cs4 lag

Hello Ive got severe lagg when running photoshop cs4, its almost as if running a game that is too good for your computer so your fps gets low.

Ive got 4 gbs of ram running on 32x windows xp.

Is there someway i can reduce the "graphics" so to speak or reduce the ammount of power it needs to suck from my computer somewhere.

I would just try shutting down everything you have running in the background if it's having that much lag. Also, if you haven't ever reformatted your computer it might be a good time to do that.

Could you open up Photoshop and the task manager simultaneously and post a screenshot of it? I'm interested mostly in the processes tab, but the performance tab would be nice to see as well.
