Photoshop Graphic question

Postby mizzle54 on Tue Jan 13, 2009 5:58 pm

Hi.....I've just installed Photoshop CS4 on my dell computer. Problem is when I open a photo it looks like it has a fine mesh layer over it, and when I zoom in the photo looks like it has been split into triangles, till I zoom in very, very close, then it displays fine. Any suggestions, as I have a feeling it has something to do with my graphics card or the setting I have on photoshop itself.

Operating System: Windows Vista™ Home Premium (6.0, Build 6001) Service Pack 1 (6001.longhorn_rtm.080118-1840)
Language: English (Regional Setting: English)
System Manufacturer: Dell Inc.
System Model: Dell XPS420
BIOS: Phoenix ROM BIOS PLUS Version 1.10 A01
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz (4 CPUs), ~2.4GHz
Memory: 2046MB RAM
Page File: 1816MB used, 2517MB available
Windows Dir: C:\Windows
DirectX Version: DirectX 10

I can be contacted at mizzle54@gmail.com
Thanks

I don't know if this will work for you, but sometimes you need to have your preference file reset if photoshop is being glitchy. Here are a couple ways of doing that:

1. Hold down Ctrl+Alt+Shift while starting Photoshop. A dialog box will appear asking if you wish to delete the preferences file.

2. You can also simply search your hard drive for a *.psp file and delete it. It will be called something along the lines of "Adobe Photoshop X Prefs.psp".

Under Win 2k/XP the preference file will be found at:
%windir%\Documents and Settings\~username\Application Data\Adobe\Photoshop\[version #]\Adobe Photoshop [version #] Settings

[NOTE: You need to set Window's Explorer Options to "View Hidden Files and Folders" to display the Preference file]

This is something I found on the Adobe forums awhile back when my Photoshop was acting weird.

Nope, gave that a try and when I open the photo, it still has a few distorted triangles in it. I can see some of the photo I opened, but there is alot of the photo that is messed up. Thanks for your advice though, appreciated.

hmm... Does it do it when you open a photo in a browser or in paint? (don't know if they have paint for vista since i'm still runining xp) Another thing you may want to try is updating the drivers for your video card. That has helped me with some visual glitches in the past.
