XHTML is more like a new generation of HTML in my opinion. There's a few things you should really watch out for when using XHTML. Here's alink at W3Schools.com telling you how to create good XHTML pages. Should tell you the difference between HTML and XHTML as well :) There's just a couple of things, like orders in the source of the page, nesting of the tags etcetera... take a look for yourself :)

Well, XHTML isn't always supported by webhosts. Some may not have the proper software for that. It could also happen that your browser does not support XHTML. I'm not really sure if XHTML is upgrade for HTML, or that is an entire 'new' language.

What I have understod isn't it big changes its, its mostly rules. In html you can write a very ugly code and the site still works, xhtml forces you to program a good code. If you have a well-written code your site will be loaded faster, but you could have a well-written html code to. There are some new functions iin xhtml though. Im not sure of this, just what I have heard about it.

That's true anyhow. When I think about it now, I realise I never even learned HTML, but I always used XHTML. Looks a lot cleaner though. (Except for the /> at the end of a tag, I never do that ;) )

You don't need to use CSS for programming XHTML, but it gets better if you combinate XHTML with CSS.
