Hi S.Sajan,

Check to see that you have "Feather" (in the options bar) set to zero.

If it is a rectangle you want use the rectangle tool, not the marquee. It will give a vectorial object to work with, one you can shrink/grow at will.
If it is a rounded rectangle you want, do the same, but with the round rectangle tool.

hi,
see you have already gotten answers and mine probably the same...

you want to use the rectagular tool... and if you look at the top after you select the tool there a radius box to put in the the radius for the corners... then proceed, you may need to experiement alittle.... to get the correct radiius you want....

what i sometimes do after i draw my box... i will then do a right click and click either selection or stroke path or fill .. i am still learning some of the features of that of what i can do or can't do with it..lol

Usualy there's no need to do that. The shape that the rectangle (and all other shape tools) tool produces can accept most of the features that a raster layer can. The exception are filters and image processing functions. In the case you need to aply a filter to a shape, rasterize that layer and it will keep it's apearance. I often duplicate the shape layer and rasterize the copy to maintain a backup of the original one.
