How to duplicate this effect?

Postby tjc19999 on Sun Mar 15, 2009 1:04 am

I have some images I would like to know how to replicate the lighten/darken layers that you can see are common between these 2 images. These layers breakup the solid color leather to make it look more interesting.

Thanks in advance for any and all help.

That looks like a blend modes. Make a new layer on top of the image, color it black and white and then test it with different opacity and blend modes.

Actually here is what I did:
create dark brown splotches with a standard brush
use reticulation filter
Soft Light with 15% opacity
done!
