I'm' trying to design an outdoor sign for a business....24'X180' and for some reason illutstrator will only let me go so big for the font..it says a maximum of 1296pt but obviously i need to go bigger...do you k,now why its limiting me??

Please help and thank you ahead of time

Hi Sabrina,

I know this is not the answer to your quetion, but if you create the sign half size, as in 12x90 and then add the font you want, then resize to 24x180 it may work, give it a go.

Try converting your font to outlines by right clicking on it and hitting the Outlines button,
then try resizing it. It won't be editable as font anymore, instead it will be vectored normally. Then you can scale to whatever size to desire

thanks i'll try that...but you can tell me how to flatten the layers and then resize it? sorry im a photoshop user and this is my first dabbling with illustrator...just trying to get my sign done w/out having to pay someone else!

you don't really flatten in AI you group. I know, group means something different in PS but in AI it will group all the shapes and text together so you can resize them all at the same time. hold ctrl+a and then got to object>group. VIOLA
