Seam carving

Postby jerryb on Wed Apr 15, 2009 1:22 am

hi,
Didn't know where else to ask this... but does any one have an expereienced or/and favorite program to do seam carving ?

I understand PS cs4 has it but cs4 not in my budget this year... smiling

i tried a couple of onlines editors that have it.. but didn't like those and was wondering if any one is using a seam carving program or third party plugin for it.

I use a plug-in for Gimp called Liquid Rescale.

Yeah, all the work I've done with this has been completely OUTSIDE Photoshop. To be honest, I find the plug-ins as lackluster as the online editors. I'm becoming convinced that this is a good solution for the problem of flexible images in document formats (what the project was initially about), but that it doesn't have great carryover into the design/photography realm.

I've got a hold of the original C++ opensource code though, and I'm going through it line by line to see exactly what the score is. My final verdict may change, but at this point, it doesn't look likely.

hi joe,
i wish i had the knowledge to get in as deep into the code that you do... smiling...

yes the onlines site, i have been to, that use seam carving... not happy at all with them.. very limited, sometimes very slow, etc...

and one site that had the stand alone it appears that a old version.. and the orginal company that had liquid retouch they been bought out by onsoft and they haven't released anything yet to my knowledge.. so still looking for a good program.. weather it a good bplug in or a good stand alone...
